Seneca Falls - Robert “Bob” P. Bellomo

Bob Bellomo passed away on Tuesday, June 28th, at F.F. Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua, after an 18-month battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Those close to Bob remember him as a fun, funny and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend.

Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Sunday (July 3, 2016) from 1 to 4 PM. Bob’s Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday
(July 4) at 9:30 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls, with Reverend Roy Kiggins as celebrant. If desired, contributions may be made to Roswell Park Alliance Foundation, In Memory of Robert P. Bellomo, Elm & Carlton St., Buffalo, NY 14623.

Born April 17, 1939 in Seneca Falls, the son of the late Assunta and Pietro Bellomo, Bob grew up on Van Cleef Street, graduated from Mynderse Academy High school and attended Ithaca College for one year. In April 1961, he married Margaret “Peg” Venuti from Geneva and then settled on Daniels Street, one block from his childhood home. He worked as a union millwright at Goulds Pumps, retiring in 2001 after 41 years of service.

Bob enjoyed an active role in community service. He served a number of years in the Lyons Club and on the Seneca Falls Recreation Board as well as volunteered as a Junior League football coach. In 1990 Bob received the annual D.A. Pedulla Memorial Award for his longtime service at the local St. Anthony Festival. In 1995, Bob received the Father Joseph P. Beatini Memorial Award for community service related to Italian culture and heritage within the Seneca Falls community. Bob joined the SMS in Seneca Falls in the late 1960’s, serving in many capacities over the years, including a term as president. In 2004 the SMS formally acknowledged his many years of service at its 100th anniversary dinner.

Bob is survived by his wife Peg, his three children, Susan Conrey (Jim Dorn) of Clifton Springs, Christine Bellomo (Bob Hurlbutt) of Farmington and Peter Bellomo (Kathleen Austin) of Frederick, MD. Bob is also survived by a sister, Claire Withers of Canandaigua and brother, David (Rose) Bellomo of Seneca Falls, 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brother, Louis Bellomo of Newark, NY, the eldest of the four siblings, who died January 15, 2013.
