Obituary for Edward J. Stenglein

Latham/Seneca Falls – Edward J. Stenglein, 91 of Old Niskayuna Road, Latham, NY, formerly of Seneca Falls, NY, died Wednesday (September 21, 2016) at Wesley Health Care Center, Saratoga Springs, NY.

Family and friends may call at St. Patrick’s Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Saturday (October 1) from 10 AM to 11 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls.

Ed was born in Seneca Falls on July 6, 1925 the son of the late Conrad & Margaret Foerst Stenglein. He had resided in Latham, NY for 14 years previously living in Falmouth, MA and Seneca Falls, NY. He was a 1943 Graduate of Mynderse Academy. He had served as a navigator in the Army Air Corps and later as a Flight Officer in the U.S. Air Force from 1943 to 1967 during World War II, the Korean Conflict, and the Viet Nam War. He had achieved the rank of Master Sargent. His service time included Japan, The Philippines, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, Canada, & both Dover, Delaware, & Falmouth, MA. Air Force Bases. He was a former member of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls. Ed was a man who collected just about everything he could get his hands on.

He was a beloved Uncle to his surviving 12 nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by 2 sisters, Margaret Shanley & Elizabeth Heinlein, & 5 brothers, John, George, Joe, Philip, & Conrad Stenglein.
Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, NY.
