Obituary for Joseph J. Lama

Seneca Falls – Joseph J. Lama, 86, of Johnston St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away, unexpectedly, on Saturday (June 24, 2017) at this residence.

Family and friends may attend Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday (June 28) at 11 AM at St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions may be made to St. Francis/St. Clare Parish, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165.

Joe was born in Seneca Falls, NY on August 30, 1930 the son of the late Fred & Theresa DeRosa Lama. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed by the P & C Grocery Store of Seneca Falls as Produce Manager. He had also worked at Penny’s Restaurant in Seneca Falls and had been Seneca Falls School Crossing Guard. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, Seneca Falls and the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls.

He is survived by:
2 daughters – Cathy (Steven) Turkett – Seneca Falls, NY
Laurie (Jack) Price – Waterloo, NY
4 grandchildren – David (Amanda) Turkett, Brian (Anna) Turkett, Amanda (Steve) Brown, & Adam Conley.
1 great granddaughter – Eva Turkett
2 sisters – Lucy Liberatore – Seneca Falls, NY
Onesta (Hank) Cerep – Seneca Falls, NY
Several nieces and nephews
In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his wife, Margie B. Lama who died May 31, 2017, 4 sisters, Josephine Golaschewski, Fran Cappo, Mary Nicholson, & Rose Smith, 2 brothers, John & Ernie Lama.
Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, NY.
